I took this today with a Nikon D800 and Stellarvue 115mm telescope. Sunspots are dark spots on the sun of intense magnetic intensity causing areas of cooler temperture. They are perfectly normal. Day to day you can observe the spots moving with the surface of the sun as it rotates. You already know this but NEVER look at the sun through a camera or telescope. I used a very safe and proven sun filter made specifically for sun viewing.

Much of the NYC Subway mosaics date back to 1904. There are slightly more modern ones for 28th Street, but this one is slightly out of the way and quite old. Read about the Subway Mosaics here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City_Subway_tiles
